WHAT THEY SAY
Bonuses SEIKO 5 SPORTS Automatic Strap Watch SNZG15J1 Mens
Love this watch, well developed and reasonable reserve electric power, it has not stopped yet, mine is just a little fast but not a big issue.
That is a great entrance into automatic designer watches, the Seiko movement has an extended history of trustworthiness.
Great watch that came promptly. It exceeded my objectives. Fit and finish was beautiful. Well packed. The watch keeps excellent time right out of the box.
A hi-tech, 23 jewels, automatic movement identifies the Seiko Automatic Sports and makes it its basic position. This analog watch is supported by 23 jewels; the hands are luminous and silver-toned while baton hour-markers add extra awareness. The watch also shows night out and resists water for up to 100 feet. The perfect watch for a round of beach volleyball, the silver-toned stainless hyperlink bracelet will keep it in place.
SEIKO 5 – this is of the “5” An excellent marketer had the theory in the 70isera: to be always a SEIKO 5, the watch has to have the following 5 (five) attributes (thus the name SEIKO 5):
- Water resistant,
- Shock resistant,
Please note that some SEIKO 5’s are in fact SEIKO 4’s, if the “Day” function is omitted, then the Caliber 7S25 is used. The sole difference to the normally found 7S26 is the omission of your day wheel.
Also re-issues of SEIKO 5 Athletics often use the 7S36 caliber. Again the 7S36 is comparable to typically the most popular 7S26, yet it features 23 Jewels as opposed to the 21 Jewels in the 7S26.
Please note that these movements overcome at a rate of 21’600 bph (beats each hour) or 6 bps (beats per second).
As a comparability, an ETA 2824-2 beats at 28’800 bph or 8 bps. A Miyota 82xx beats at 21’600 bph.
Why do I refer to these three moves?
Because they are found in probably 80% of all inexpensive automatic designer watches. A market share that is huge, yet challenged nowadays (2006) by an increasing share of inexpensive China Made programmed movements An computerized watch (also called a self-winding watch) is a mechanical watch, typically with an equilibrium steering wheel escapement, whose mainspring is wound by the movement of the wearer’s arm, instead of having to be wound manually every day.
Whereas a quartz watch is power by electricity, a mechanised watch is driven by way of a mainspring which must be rewound for the watch to keep time.
THE CASE AND CRYSTAL
For SNK followers who want those watch cases were bigger, the hold out is finally over. The SNZG15 measures a solid 42 mm and is also 12 mm solid. That means its proportions are bigger than the old-style men’s watches, but is noticeably smaller than the outrageously huge designer watches you commonly see today.
The top circumstance includes a brushed end, as well as polished end on the factors. The crystal is Seiko’s own hardlex crystal, which is extremely scratch resistant. It’s also water resistant up to 100 meters.
The dial design seems a bit busy, though it does have a rather nice arrangement that makes everything still readable. The outer band shows the dominant numbered markings, while an interior ring provides military services time. The day and day info is highlighted at the 3 o’clock position.
The hour and minute hands are substantive with a pointy end, while the second hand is merely a nice sliver. The black dial offsets the hands and markers very well. The lume is excellent, as it glows brightly for 7 or 8 hours.
The automatic mechanical 7S36 watch movements is exact and reliable, with variances which range from -20 secs to +40 secs a day. That doesn’t quite equate to the best Swiss and Japanese computerized movements, but for an entry level watch it’s more than sufficient.
It includes a combat rate of 21600 BPH, and that means you do not get the particular ticking from a quartz watch that can be annoying at night when everything’s quiet. You’ve got a 40-hour electricity reserve which means you can take it off during the night and never have to worry that it will stop working.
This is possibly the weakest hyperlink in the Seiko 5 SNZG15, and it’s really the reason why the SNZG15 is a few us dollars cheaper than the Seiko 5 SNZG13. The 22 mm nylon strap can feel somewhat too hard initially, and you’ll need some time to break it in. It’ll do the job sufficiently eventually though.
For some, the nylon appears quite cheap so it doesn’t match the silent selling point of the Seiko 5 SNZG15. But with NATO or leather straps you can easily buy to get and online, it will look much better.
PROS & CONS Bonuses SEIKO 5 SPORTS Automatic Strap Watch SNZG15J1 Mens
Basically, what we have here’s an entry level military field watch, and it’s rugged operation and design are great.
The dial provides info easily, and even at night there’s no problem telling enough time. The hands are brightly luminous at night, and it doesn’t fade for many hours.
The accuracy is good enough for most people.
The “provenance” (history), is nice, as it goes back to an earlier era when designer watches such as they were worn on the field of battle.
The size of the truth is simply perfect for those with bigger wrists, but even for ordinary wrists it generally does not really look too big.
For the nylon strap disadvantage, for some it’s actually nice enough to wear as is. But for the most part, people don’t choose the Seiko 5 SNZG15 for the strap. You can certainly change the strap to NATO or leather and which should improve its look even more.
