WHAT THEY SAY
Latest SEIKO 5 SPORTS Automatic Strap Watch SNZG15J1 Mens
Love this watch, well built and decent reserve electricity, it hasn’t stopped yet, mine is a little fast although not a big concern.
That is a great access into automatic designer watches, the Seiko movement has an extended history of consistency.
Great watch that came promptly. It exceeded my prospects. Fit and carry out was beautiful. Well packaged. The watch keeps excellent time right out of the box.
A hi-tech, 23 jewels, automated movement defines the Seiko Auto Sports and earns it its typical position. This analog watch is guaranteed by 23 jewels; the hands are luminous and silver-toned while baton hour-markers add extra awareness. The watch also shows day and resists drinking water for 100 feet. The perfect watch out for a circular of beach volleyball, the silver-toned stainless steel hyperlink bracelet will keep it set up.
SEIKO 5 – the meaning of the “5” An excellent marketer had the idea in the 70iha sido: to be a SEIKO 5, the watch has to have the following 5 (five) features (thus the name SEIKO 5):
- Water resistant,
- Shock resistant,
Please note that some SEIKO 5’s are actually SEIKO 4’s, if the “Day” function is omitted, then your Caliber 7S25 can be used. The sole difference to the normally found 7S26 is the omission of the day wheel.
Also re-issues of SEIKO 5 Sports activities often use the 7S36 caliber. Again the 7S36 is comparable to the most popular 7S26, yet it features 23 Jewels instead of the 21 Jewels in the 7S26.
Please note that these movements conquer at a rate of 21’600 bph (beats each hour) or 6 bps (beats per second).
As a contrast, an ETA 2824-2 beats at 28’800 bph or 8 bps. A Miyota 82xx beats at 21’600 bph.
Why must i refer to these three movements?
Because they are found in probably 80% of most inexpensive automatic wrist watches. A market talk about that is huge, yet challenged these days (2006) by an increasing show of inexpensive China Made computerized movements An programmed watch (also called a self-winding watch) is a mechanised watch, typically with an equilibrium wheel escapement, whose mainspring is wound by the motion of the wearer’s arm, rather than needing to be wound by hand every day.
Whereas a quartz watch is powered by electricity, a mechanical watch is powered by a mainspring which must be rewound for the watch to keep time.
THE CASE AND CRYSTAL
For SNK lovers who wish those watch situations were bigger, the hold out is finally over. The SNZG15 steps a sturdy 42 mm and is also 12 mm thick. Which means its sizes are bigger than the old-style men’s wrist watches, but is noticeably smaller than the outrageously huge watches you commonly see today.
The top circumstance includes a brushed finish off, as well as refined end on the attributes. The crystal is Seiko’s own hardlex crystal, which is extremely scratch resistant. It’s also water resistant up to 100 meters.
The dial design seems a bit busy, although it does have a fairly nice arrangement that makes everything still readable. The outside band shows the visible numbered markings, while an inner ring provides armed forces time. The day and time info is presented at the 3 o’clock position.
The hour and minute hands are considerable with a pointy end, as the second hand is just a nice sliver. The dark dial offsets the hands and markers effectively. The lume is great, as it glows brightly for up to 7 or 8 hours.
The automatic mechanised 7S36 watch motion is accurate and reliable, with variances ranging from -20 a few moments to +40 secs a day. That doesn’t quite compare with the best Swiss and Japanese computerized movements, but also for an entry level watch it’s more than sufficient.
It provides a beat rate of 21600 BPH, which means you don’t get the distinct ticking from a quartz watch that can be annoying during the night when everything’s silent. You’ve got a 40-hour electric power reserve so you may take it off during the night and never have to worry that it will stop working.
This is perhaps the weakest website link in the Seiko 5 SNZG15, and it’s really the key reason why the SNZG15 is a few dollars cheaper than the Seiko 5 SNZG13. The 22 mm nylon strap can feel a little too hard at first, and you will need some time to break it in. It’ll get the job done sufficiently eventually though.
For a few, the nylon looks quite cheap so it doesn’t match the quiet selling point of the Seiko 5 SNZG15. But with NATO or leather straps you may easily buy in stores and online, it will look much better.
PROS & CONS Latest SEIKO 5 SPORTS Automatic Strap Watch SNZG15J1 Mens
Basically, what we have here’s an entry level military services field watch, and it’s really rugged features and design are excellent.
The dial provides info quickly, and even during the night there’s no problem telling the time. The hands are brightly luminous in the dark, and it generally does not fade for most hours.
The precision is sufficient for many people.
The “provenance” (history), is nice, as it goes back to an earlier era when wrist watches such as these were worn on the field of fight.
The size of the situation is ideal for those with bigger wrists, but even for regular wrists it doesn’t really look too large.
For the nylon strap drawback, for some it’s actually nice enough to wear as is. But for the most part, people don’t buy the Seiko 5 SNZG15 for the strap. You can easily change the strap to NATO or leather and that should improve its look even more.
WHY I SHOP AT AMAZON
