WHAT THEY SAY
seiko 5 sports automatic hand winding
Love this watch, well built and reasonable reserve ability, it hasn’t halted yet, mine is just a little fast but not a big concern.
That is a great admittance into automatic wrist watches, the Seiko movements has a long history of consistency.
Great watch that arrived promptly. It exceeded my objectives. Fit and surface finish was beautiful. Well packaged. The watch maintains excellent time right from the box.
A hi-tech, 23 jewels, automatic movement defines the Seiko Auto Sports and earns it its traditional status. This analog watch is backed by 23 jewels; the hands are luminous and silver-toned while baton hour-markers add extra presence. The watch also shows particular date and resists drinking water for 100 feet. An ideal watch out for a round of beach volleyball, the silver-toned stainless link bracelet will keep it in place.
SEIKO 5 – the meaning of the “5” An excellent marketer had the idea in the 70isera: to be a SEIKO 5, the watch has to have the next 5 (five) attributes (thus the name SEIKO 5):
- Water resistant,
- Shock resistant,
Please note that some SEIKO 5’s are actually SEIKO 4’s, if the “Day” function is omitted, then your Caliber 7S25 can be used. The one difference to the normally found 7S26 is the omission of your day wheel.
Also re-issues of SEIKO 5 Sports often use the 7S36 caliber. Again the 7S36 is similar to typically the most popular 7S26, yet it features 23 Jewels as opposed to the 21 Jewels in the 7S26.
Please note that all these movements overcome at a level of 21’600 bph (beats each hour) or 6 bps (beats per second).
As a comparison, an ETA 2824-2 beats at 28’800 bph or 8 bps. A Miyota 82xx beats at 21’600 bph.
Why do I speak about these three motions?
Because they are found in probably 80% of most inexpensive automatic wrist watches. A market share that is huge, yet challenged these days (2006) by an increasing share of inexpensive China Made automated movements An automated watch (also known as a self-winding watch) is a mechanised watch, typically with a balance wheel escapement, whose mainspring is wound by the motion of the wearer’s arm, instead of needing to be wound manually every day.
Whereas a quartz watch is run by electricity, a mechanised watch is run by the mainspring which must be rewound for the watch to keep time.
THE CASE AND CRYSTAL
For SNK supporters who want those watch cases were bigger, the hang on is finally over. The SNZG15 actions a solid 42 mm and is 12 mm heavy. That means its sizes are bigger than the old-style men’s wristwatches, but is noticeably smaller than the outrageously huge wristwatches you commonly see today.
The top circumstance comes with a brushed finish, as well as refined finish on the attributes. The crystal is Seiko’s own hardlex crystal, which is incredibly scratch resistant. It is also water-resistant up to 100 meters.
The dial design seems somewhat busy, although it does have a fairly nice arrangement which makes everything still readable. The external band shows the dominant numbered markings, while an internal ring provides military services time. The day and date info is included at the 3 o’clock position.
The hour and minute hands are substantive with a pointy end, while the second hand is just a nice sliver. The black dial offsets the hands and markers very well. The lume is excellent, as it glows brightly for up to 7 or 8 time.
The automatic mechanised 7S36 watch movements is appropriate and reliable, with variances which range from -20 a few moments to +40 seconds a day. That doesn’t quite equate to the best Swiss and Japanese programmed movements, but for an entry level watch it’s more than sufficient.
It includes a do better than rate of 21600 BPH, and that means you do not get the distinct ticking from a quartz watch that may be annoying during the night when everything’s quiet. You’ve got a 40-hour power reserve so you can take it off during the night without having to worry that it’ll stop working.
This is possibly the weakest hyperlink in the Seiko 5 SNZG15, and it’s really the key reason why the SNZG15 is a few us dollars cheaper than the Seiko 5 SNZG13. The 22 mm nylon strap can feel a little too hard initially, and you will need a while to break it in. It will get the job done sufficiently eventually though.
For a few, the nylon looks quite cheap so that it doesn’t match the noiseless selling point of the Seiko 5 SNZG15. But with NATO or leather straps you can certainly buy to get and online, it’ll look much better.
PROS & CONS seiko 5 sports automatic hand winding
Basically, what we’ve here is an basic level military services field watch, and it’s really rugged features and design are excellent.
The dial provides info readily, and even at night there’s no problem telling the time. The hands are brightly luminous at night, and it doesn’t fade for most hours.
The precision is good enough for many people.
The “provenance” (record), is nice, as it goes back to an earlier era when wrist watches such as we were holding worn on the field of challenge.
How big is the case is exquisite for people that have bigger wrists, but even for ordinary wrists it doesn’t really look too big.
As for the nylon strap drawback, for some it’s actually nice enough to wear as is. But for the most part, people don’t buy the Seiko 5 SNZG15 for the strap. You can certainly change the strap to NATO or leather and that should improve its look even more.
WHY I SHOP AT AMAZON
seiko 5 sports automatic hand winding -I put a lot of time and work into choosing where to shop. I have favorite stores for groceries. I have favorite stores for clothes. I have stores I detest. And, of course, almost always there is online shopping.
Usually, there’s just Amazon.
I find myself at Amazon.com almost every day — even when I’m not shopping, I may be exploring prices, reading reviews, updating my account or just dreaming. There’s nearly always something in my own cart, just looking forward to grounds to officially place an order. It is the internet version of screen shopping.
In the long run, I’m probably to make my last purchase with Amazon anyhow. Listed below are 7 reasons why it’s become my go-to store:
After many years of researching prices and returning to Amazon, I’ve finally came to the realization there are a few things they’ll always offer at the lowest price. I remember when Amazon offered just catalogs, films, and music. Now, will there be anything they don’t sell? I’ve bought gadgets, toys and games, groceries, clothes, and even furniture. It really is the main one place I could go to order anything we need.
