WHAT THEY SAY
Who Sells SEIKO 5 SPORTS Automatic Strap Watch SNZG15J1 Mens
Love this watch, well built and reasonable reserve electricity, it hasn’t halted yet, mine is just a little fast but is not a big issue.
This is a great access into automatic wristwatches, the Seiko movement has a long history of consistency.
Great watch that emerged promptly. It exceeded my anticipations. Fit and finish was beautiful. Well packed. The watch keeps excellent time right from the box.
A hi-tech, 23 jewels, automated movement defines the Seiko Automatic Sports and earns it its classic status. This analog watch is guaranteed by 23 jewels; the hands are luminous and silver-toned while baton hour-markers add extra visibility. The watch also shows day and resists normal water for 100 feet. An ideal watch out for a circular of beach volleyball, the silver-toned stainless steel hyperlink bracelet will maintain it in place.
SEIKO 5 – this is of the “5” An excellent marketer had the theory in the 70isera: to be always a SEIKO 5, the watch has to have the next 5 (five) features (thus the name SEIKO 5):
- Water resistant,
- Shock resistant,
Please note that some SEIKO 5’s are actually SEIKO 4’s, if the “Day” function is omitted, then your Caliber 7S25 can be used. Really the only difference to the normally found 7S26 is the omission of your day wheel.
Also re-issues of SEIKO 5 Activities often use the 7S36 caliber. Again the 7S36 is comparable to the most popular 7S26, yet it features 23 Jewels instead of the 21 Jewels in the 7S26.
Please note that these movements beat at a rate of 21’600 bph (beats per hour) or 6 bps (beats per second).
As a assessment, an ETA 2824-2 beats at 28’800 bph or 8 bps. A Miyota 82xx beats at 21’600 bph.
Why should i point out these three actions?
Because they’re within probably 80% of all inexpensive automatic designer watches. A market share that is huge, yet challenged these days (2006) by a growing show of inexpensive China Made automated movements An automated watch (also known as a self-winding watch) is a mechanical watch, typically with a balance wheel escapement, whose mainspring is wound by the movement of the wearer’s arm, instead of having to be wound manually every day.
Whereas a quartz watch is powered by electricity, a mechanical watch is run with a mainspring which must be rewound for the watch to keep time.
THE CASE AND CRYSTAL
For SNK supporters who wish those watch instances were bigger, the wait is finally over. The SNZG15 steps a solid 42 mm which is 12 mm thick. That means its proportions are bigger than the old-style men’s wrist watches, but is noticeably smaller than the outrageously huge designer watches you commonly see today.
The top circumstance includes a brushed carry out, as well as refined end on the factors. The crystal is Seiko’s own hardlex crystal, which is incredibly scratch resistant. It is also water resistant up to 100 meters.
The dial design seems a little busy, though it does have a rather nice arrangement that makes everything still readable. The outside diamond ring shows the dominant numbered markings, while an interior ring provides military services time. Your day and time info is highlighted at the 3 o’clock position.
The hour and minute hands are significant with a pointy end, as the second hand is merely a nice sliver. The dark dial offsets the hands and markers very well. The lume is excellent, as it glows brightly for 7 or 8 hours.
The automatic mechanised 7S36 watch movement is exact and reliable, with variances ranging from -20 a few moments to +40 seconds a day. It doesn’t quite equate to the best Swiss and Japanese computerized movements, but for an basic level watch it’s more than sufficient.
It offers a whip rate of 21600 BPH, and that means you don’t get the different ticking from a quartz watch that may be annoying at night when everything’s noiseless. You’ve got a 40-hour power reserve and that means you may take it off during the night and never have to worry that it’ll stop working.
This is possibly the weakest hyperlink in the Seiko 5 SNZG15, and it’s the key reason why the SNZG15 is a few us dollars cheaper than the Seiko 5 SNZG13. The 22 mm nylon strap can feel a lttle bit too hard initially, and you will need some time to break it in. It’ll do the job well enough eventually though.
For some, the nylon looks quite cheap so it doesn’t match the peaceful selling point of the Seiko 5 SNZG15. But with NATO or leather straps you can easily buy to get and online, it’ll look much better.
PROS & CONS Who Sells SEIKO 5 SPORTS Automatic Strap Watch SNZG15J1 Mens
Basically, what we’ve here’s an basic level military field watch, and it’s rugged operation and design are excellent.
The dial provides info quickly, and even during the night there’s no problem telling enough time. The hands are brightly luminous in the dark, and it generally does not fade for most hours.
The correctness is good enough for most people.
The “provenance” (history), is nice, as it goes back to a youthful era when wristwatches such as we were holding worn on the field of challenge.
The size of the situation is simply perfect for those with bigger wrists, but even for common wrists it doesn’t really look too large.
As for the nylon strap downside, for some it’s actually nice enough to wear as is. But for the most part, people don’t buy the Seiko 5 SNZG15 for the strap. You can easily change the strap to NATO or leather and that should improve its look even more.
